  • The Roof

How do we know if a roof is in good condition without touching it? Through the use of RGB and Thermal images that depict the conditions of the roof. RGB is the visual light spectrum. Thermal shows the heat radiated. To best determine the current conditions of the roof, two flights are conducted. The first is the RGB which is flown approximately at Solar Noon. Next, the Thermal images were flown approximately 30 minutes after sunset.

  • The Report

The thermal anomalies are analyzed through qualitative analysis. Using qualitative analysis, we use a variation in temperature and not the actual temperature of the materials. These temperature variations identify the colder roof material from the possible warmer water penetration under the roof material. We use an Intensity scale of 1-10 to rate the temperature difference. 1 is the coldest with 10 being the hottest.

  • Consult with Architect or Roofer

When we identify these anomalies, it is the first step in evaluating the roof. We work in conjunction with the Architect or Roofer or both on the best course of action. Our report includes the RGB and Thermal views and notation of anomalies. The Architect or Roofer may identify any additional investigative needs such as core samples or additional photographs of the roof area to fully evaluate the condition of the roof.
